DSP and Digital Amplification
Unlike conventional analog loudspeakers that rely on speaker wires and crossover boards filled with analog components, Neosonik loudspeakers are driven entirely through DSP (Digital Signal Processing). Crossover slopes, frequency response, phase and time alignment can be adjusted with a level of precision that is simply not attainable with analog circuitry. The loudspeaker DSP sends the audio signals to a proprietary digital amplifier featuring a digital input. This is another fundamental advantage, since, unlike analog systems where the amplifier designer has absolutely no idea what kind of loudspeaker will be paired with the amplifier, we can tailor each amp for the specific woofer and tweeter it will be driving. In addition, by using digital amplifiers that feature digital, rather than analog inputs, we can completely eliminate the need for line-level D/A converters – yet another advantage because a significant amount of money can be spent upgrading the D/A section in order to reduce signal degradation caused by line-level D/A conversion.
Speaker Drivers
Most speaker companies are what we in the industry refer to as “box stuffers.” Meaning, they buy their drivers off the shelf from an outside supplier, then throw them in a cabinet and call themselves a loudspeaker company. At Neosonik, we design and build all of our own woofers and tweeters. This is a fundamental advantage, particularly when we build the entire Home Theater system, because we can perfectly tailor the drivers to the amplifiers and DSP we are employing. Our woofers feature proprietary Neodymium motor structures and composite cone materials that yield significantly lower distortion than conventional drivers. The Neosonik 3/4” Silk-dome tweeter is the result of extensive listening experiments with some of the most exotic materials available, including diamond and beryllium. We have found that a carefully designed Silk-dome can be more musical and accurate.
Cabinets
All Neosonik cabinets are built from the highest quality MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard) designed using advanced structural analysis to reduce distortions caused by cabinet resonance. They feature beautiful wood veneers and hand finishing. All models are available in real Cherry, Black Cherry and Rosewood veneers.
